Biking done...now my other passion...food !!

Finished the Western Tour and it was an adventure of a life time...have lots of people to thank and to remember...and biggest thanks goes to my wife for allowing me to disappear from home for nearly two months.

Now, back to reality, the daily grind, the real world, cooking !! And as so many readers seemed to enjoy my Western Tour posts, that's you Paolo, Gianluca, Nadia and Alessia...each a lover of Italian food but three of them are more "mangia cakes" than real paisanos...apoligies to N, A, and G.

OK...so what is this new blog going to be about...food, food and for dessert, more food. I will be writing about dining, food preparation, meeting the best chefs in Canada, I met about a dozen of them...and they prepared incredible meals for me. I will give you some of recipes, some mine, some from others, all tasted and tested and confirmed as deeeelicious!

Other things I will write about: kitchen gadgets, kitchen equipment, my reviews, my quibbles, my criticisms and my opinions; restaurants I have gone to in the Greater Toronto Area, but watch out, I tend to be a wordy critic, dead on right, but wordy.

I will also give you feedback on FOOD CHANNEL shows I have watched. Like one which grabs me is DINERS, DRIVE-INS & DIVES. Not only do you not ever see a dive, well, it makes sense...who wants to hear about a dive! But the food these American diners serve is gut busting, artery bursting, infarction inducing fare which is best served up on TV and nowhere else. Still, I wonder if there are such diners in Canada. On my western tour, I found ONE which was a close approximation of the show's example diners, Grandpa Sam's, on the outskirts of Lanigan, Saskatchewan, wherever that is but I think I was there. They had everything on the menu and when I asked if it was all made in house, I got a hearty affirmation, "without a doubt." Well, their lemon pie was perfectly tart, really lemony and the coffee, though I am not a lover of Canadian coffee, was a superb partner to that homemade pie. I'd go back in a minute, and try something else. The place was like the diner on the TV show Corner Gas, a hang out for seniors, all gathering round for endless cups of coffee, no charge for 2nds, 3rds, or more if you bladder allows more. Grandpa Sam and I felt like kids in that crowd and we both are far from kids' ages.

Anyway, let me know what you are interested in relating to food. I will hunt it down, test it out, write about it and get back to you.
